In July 2020, the government announced the arrival of a new funding scheme to help homeowners and landlords improve the energy efficiency of their homes, lowering fuel bills and increasing comfort.
As a TrustMark and MCS Certified installer, Wise Energy is here to help you heat your home for less.
The scheme provides vouchers, which are used to cover much of the upfront costs of installing a variety of energy saving features to your home. There are two main categories – most households will qualify for up to £5,000 in vouchers, while lower income households can receive up to £10,000. The scheme is expected to run until March 2021.
The improvements you can access under the scheme are also split into two main catagories – primary measures such as home insulation and renewable heating, and secondary measures such as glazing and doors. You can find a full list of eligible improvements below.
Under the scheme, you may have one or more of these measures installed. A primary measure must be installed for any secondary measure to be eligible. The cost of the secondary measure must not exceed the cost of the primary measure.
Although the exact criteria for the scheme have yet to be released by the government, it is expected that most households will qualify.
For households not meeting the scheme’s low income criteria, vouchers up to a maximum value of £5,000 will be issued, covering up to 2/3 of the total cost of the improvements.
Lower income households can expect to receive up to £10,000 towards the cost of improvements, which may cover 100% of installation costs.
Applications are expected to open online in September 2020. Homeowners and landlords will be able to make an application through the Simple Energy Advice website, which will also recommend energy saving improvements tailored to your property. Applicants can use these recommendations to request quotations from approved local installers, after which a voucher will be issued. A list of approved installers near you will also be published on the website.
We expect more details to be released soon about exactly how the scheme will run.
